About NOS Clearing

NOS Clearing ASA is the leading clearing house for the freight market and a specialist clearing provider to the commodities markets. Since 2001, NOS has invested significant resources in building a cleared ship freight derivatives market. In April 2007 NOS expanded the clearing service into the emerging seafood market. In December 2007, NOS launched the first clearing service for the combined Nordic and German power markets.
In the challenging year of 2008, NOS delivered the ‘Multilateral Netting and Settlement service‘ to the bilateral, uncleared part of the dry freight market. NOS collected the OTC derivatives contracts from the market and settled the transactions with a minimum capital requirement from the participants.
During 2009, NOS, together with Spectron Energy Services Ltd. have developed the very first suite of financial settled UK NBP gas derivatives. The clearing service for this market was launched in January 2010. In 2009 NOS has also developed clearing services for the Swedish El-certificate market. This is a market for trading of mandatory green certificates, a trading scheme that the Norwegian government also selected as the basis for a Norwegian green market due to commence in 2012. The clearing service for the Swedish El-Cert market was launched in February 2010.
