Launching clearing of El-Certificates

NOS is pleased to announce that today we will start clearing the Swedish Electricity Certificates contracts. NOS Clearing Members can clear Spot trades and three consecutive March contracts for 2010, 2011 and 2012.

We believe that clearing is essential for boosting liquidity in the El- cert market. Introducing clearing and simplifying the process for delivery will give the participants price transparency and no limitations on counterparties. Participants may use their El certificates as collateral, which will also be an incentive for spot traders to start using the forward market, thus broadening the market depth and liquidity.

NOS will set a daily closing price for all the products at the end of each trading day. The price will be available to all participating members on our daily clearing reports.
